2022 January 19 - M31: The Andromeda Galaxy

In today's image, we see M31 - otherwise known as the Andromeda Galaxy. This is the nearest large spiral galaxy to our own Milky Way and is actually nearly twice the size of the Milky Way. The Milky Way and Andromeda are on a collision course and will likely merge into a single large galaxy - more than five billion years from now!
