2021 October 05 - Sunrise at the South Pole

In today's image, we see the Sun as it begins to become visible over the horizon at the South Pole a couple of weeks ago. Sunrise at the South Pole occurs only once each year and the Sun will remain above the horizon for the next 6 months. The sunrise will also take several weeks as the Sun slowly gets higher in the sky.
